Bargaining 2012 started

First bargaining dates set

Community-based social service workers across British Columbia are returning to the bargaining table. Your current collective agreement expires on March 31, 2012.

The first dates for bargaining with the employer have now been set for the week of February 27.

The Community Social Services Bargaining Association bargaining committee met last week to discuss bargaining strategy and to review and prioritize the bargaining proposals received. Members have made it very clear that a fair deal is a priority.

The BCGEU is the largest union in the community social services sector, representing about two-thirds of workers. CUPE, HEU, HSA are the next largest followed by CLAC, UFCW, USW, CSWU and BCNU.

There are 220 employers in community social services divided in three sectors: Community Living, General Services and Aboriginal Services.

The Community Social Services Employers’ Association represents all the employers in the sector.
